S chassis Steering rack relocation kit

S chassis Steering rack relocation kit

In a drift application when high steering angles are required, the steering link and knuckle position can align, making steering very difficult. This is known as steering bind or over centering and the best solution is to move forward the inboard mount on the steering rack. This can be achieved with offset rack spacers, however, by creating this offset, a bending moment is applied to the steering rack. This over time leads to the deterioration of the rack seals, or even the bending of the rack. So, for a dedicated drift car, the best solution to steering bind is to do away with the offset rack spacers and relocate the entire rack forward.

Because of the shape of the OEM subframe, in order to relocate the rack, the OEM subframe must be cut apart and new mounts welded in along with bracing to strengthen the cut away sections.

Our kit moves the rack forward 30mm and contains a detailed install guide along with cutting templates to make the install process as smooth as possible.

This rack relocation has been designed from a 3D scan to ensure an accurate match and fitment.

This rack relocation also includes a set of billet solid steering rack bushes to ensure the relocated rack does not move.
Solid bushes minimize toe compliance for a more direct feel for vehicle control and improved driver feedback.

Can be used in either a LHD or RHD configuration.

We have the option of including the steering shaft extender or spacer. When relocating your steering rack the OEM steering column will NOT have sufficient thread engagement. Our steering shaft extender/spacer is the solution. This is chassis specific. If you have an S13/180sx order the S13/180sx variant. If you have an S14 or S15 order the S14/S15 variant.
